It's true, mind boggling, but true. And, it's all about the money, and control. Maricopa County, Arizona requires a residential property owner to file for a permit and inspections when putting up any type fencing (yes even portable panels) that is used as an equine corral. And, once your seriously mental challenged, control-freak, witch, neighbor calls enforcement and files a complaint, you cannot file for your permit online, you have to do it in person. Yes, why do it the easy way? You were a bad person. You pissed us off. Now you and the agency will do everything the time-consuming hard way! Why? I don't know why. It's the government after all. Maybe the want to take mug shots of the dirty rascal violator!
So instead of online files and payments, I get to print everything out, kill some trees, go in for a review, burn some fossil fuel, add to the already over-polluted are supply here, and take some time off of work to do it.
What really burns me up? Thanks for asking. My neighbor is, seriously, mentally challenged. She thinks that Obama has Montana under Marshall Law, no one is allowed in or out. She accused me of stealing my property. This woman can turn me in for a violation and I have to go through the process. She on the other hand, moved (re-dug and filled) the existing wash adjacent to the 30' wide ingress/egress when the property I bought belonged to the bank. Then she put up a fence down what she determined was the middle of the easement. The drive is now 12 feet wide and 4 feet of that is actually my other neighbor's property. I have contacted everyone from Maricopa County code enforcement, Flood control, Roads, even the Fire Marshall. Not one of these gutless bastards will do anything about it. But God help me if I should fill in the wash to avoid having it crumble away under my truck causing me to have to get towed out again. I'll get fined and hauled away. But will they do anything about the bitch that redirected it? Hell no! THAT'S a civil matter. I have to take her to court and PROVE that she did it and is in violation. And they wonder why we hate government?
And that's just the half of it. I just paid $700 for a boundary survey, sent the witch a registered letter demanding her to Cease and Desist, move her fence out of the easement and, the 30 feet of my property she is on in the corner of my property, and advise her that she has 30 days to respond or go to court.
Now, a word of advice. When you buy a house, especially a bank-owned property, DO NOT opt out of the title insurance. It's not worth saving the $500 if you have problems like I've encountered.
Oh well, I just keep on doing the next right thing in front of me, and thank God for what I have.
I'll let you know how it all turns out...
Problem solved! I moved to Tucson and am going to turn it into a rental.
